I told my bridesmaids:

- buy or wear something that they felt comfortable in and could dance in (duh)
- look hot and not feel the need to purchase a traditional bridesmaid dress
Since I didn’t police what they wore as a bridesmaid dress, what shoes they chose, or how they did their hair and makeup I made sure to gift them their jewelry and picked neutral flowers as their bridesmaids bouquets. This way the look was still cohesive while not being uniform.

happy september snaps✨ what instagram didn’t see this month was that I was faced with one of the lowest, most difficult moments of my adult life. I did my best to pull myself out of bed for work & act like everything was okay. I wasn’t okay. Although I haven’t shared what happened, I leaned on this amazing online community to lift me up during a dark hour. 100s of you took a moment out of your day to send me uplifting messages/texts when I needed it & it was a level of encouragement & love I’ve never felt before. 92 messages actually made me tear up or cry, so I saved them in an album of screenshots on my phone 🥹
In September I turned 32 & learned an extremely valuable lesson: even the hardest day will end, you’ll wake up to a new one, & the most difficult seasons will pass. Although I experienced a new low, I also embraced the highest levels of love. I blew out my birthday candles with my closest friends by my side, I was asked to speak in front of a highly prestigious community, I witnessed my closest friends marry their best friends.
When you go through tough periods, know the calendar will change & so will your broken heart. Lean on those you love, let yourself wallow, give yourself grace, experience grief, but do your best to focus on what you can control vice what you can’t—-those are building blocks towards rebuilding a broken heart.
