After getting engaged almost seven months ago, I'm still surprised every time I glance down at my finger and see the sparkling ring on my hand. But what's even more surprising than that, is my to-do list. Everytime I look at my seemingly never-ending wedding planning list, I have a little panic attack. I can't be alone here, right? RIGHT?! But while planning can be stressful at times, it's ultimately so exciting because I finally get to marry the love of my life (and have an awesome party to celebrate it)! And while most of the big ticket items, such as my venue, photographer, and caterer are FINALLY checked off (yay), there's another very important aspect to decide now -- one that I've been planning for for years. Drum roll, please...
Picking bridesmaid dresses!
And just when I thought committing to my dress was hard, choosing looks for my VIPs is even trickier. You want everyone to not only look and feel their best, but you want to ensure that the gowns create a cohesive look that add to the overall vibe of the day. So, to help me decide, Revelry decided to throw a Try On Party so that my bridesmaids could get together and try on some dresses from the comfort of home (and with the help a mimosa or two)! Now that the party is almost upon us, and it's almost time to send off my dress orders, we're officially in planning mode. Here are the essentials to hosting the perfect Try On Party!
The most important part of a Try On Party (other than your bridesbabes and Champagne, of course), is The Sample Box. Complete with color swatches, measuring tape, and any styles you choose, you'll have the convenience of a whole boutique but without the hassle. Try on gowns from the comfort of your home without having to deal with stuffy dressing rooms, pushy sales folks, and a rushed appointment time. Once you order your box and get your gals together, you're halfway to an awesome party.
When placing an order for your Sample Box(s), you'll choose your favorite styles for your friends to try on. This is where some hard decisions come into play. Do you want everyone in matching looks? Do you want all of the same color and fabric but different gowns? Do you want to do a total "mix and match" look? Narrowing down your looks can be hard (trust me, I'm right there with you), but that's half the fun! Plus, with in-house stylists at the ready, we're always here to help you figure out your perfect bridesmaid looks!

Formal dress sizing can be all types of weird. We totally agree with you. Due to how gowns with boning, high-quality fabric, and expert craftsmanship are made, street sizing just doesn't work (womp womp). Still, we don't think that finding your dress size should be a headache. Not only do we carry sizes 0-32 as well as four different length options, but we NEVER charge for extended sizes. Plus, every Sample Box comes with a measuring tape to help all of your friends find their perfect fits!
So, you don't exactly need a theme. Or your theme can be "partying with my friends." We're fans of that one. Still, sometimes it's just fun to go all out! Whether you host a formal Try On Party at or before your shower, have a sleepover with lots of gossip, Truth or Dare, and giant nightshirts, or something in-between, remember: This is a celebration. So, have fun with it! Get out the decorations, grab some noise makers, and enjoy. Because getting glammed up with your girls is always a good reason to celebrate!

They say a picture is worth a thousand Instagram likes (that's how the saying goes, right?), and when it comes to finding the perfect dress, it's no exception! Not only will you want to document all of the fun you're having playing dress up, but taking photos of each look is a perfect way to narrow down the choices. Take lots of pictures and spend some time looking all of them over to decide how they fit into the theme of your day.
No good party can be without snacks, and no bridal boutique can be without some bubbly. One of the best parts about having a Try On Party is that you can spend an afternoon laughing with your friends, trying on dresses, and enjoying the day! And to keep your energy up, you'll need PLENTY of food. We recommend lots of doughnuts, plenty of carbs, and a full mimosa bar. What? Calories don't count when it comes to wedding planning!
No good party can be without some good tunes! Besides, you'll need to practice your dance moves in the gowns to ensure they'll be perfect on the big day. Pull up your favorite playlist, crank the volume up loud, and do your best bad dance moves. It's not a party until the '90s jams start playing, right?
We know, we know! It's totally cheesy. Still, we can't deny that that is what this ALL comes down to. Sometimes with wedding planning, we get so hung up on the details, we forget what it's all about: love. Love for your friends, love for your family, and love for the person you get to spend the rest of your life with. That's what we, at Revelry, want to celebrate. So, grab your girls and get ready to party. Because at the end of it all, these are truly the special moments: laughing with your friends, dancing the night away, and looking forward to everything to come with your besties by your side.
